About the player
Robin Lod's football education began at Klubi 04 and continued in the HJK Helsinki academy. It was at HJK that he built the foundation of his reputation, winning the Finnish league title three years running and lifting the Finnish Cup, and the 2014 season stands apart: Lod was named both the best player and best midfielder in the Veikkausliiga that year.
That form carried him to Greece, where Panathinaikos signed him in 2015. He played for Panathinaikos before joining Sporting Gijón in Spain as a free agent. In 2019 he crossed the Atlantic, moving to Minnesota United, where he settled into MLS and stayed for three seasons. That stretch also included a call-up to the 2024 MLS All-Star selection.
Lod has long combined his club career with international football. He has amassed 85 caps for Finland and scored six goals for the national team.
