About the player
Šimun Butić grew up playing in Zadar before moving into the Hajduk Split academy. He signed for HNK Rijeka in the summer of 2023 on a long-term contract and made his first-team debut for the club in May 2024.
The club sent him out on loan to HNK Vukovar 1991 for the 2024/25 season, where he made 16 appearances. He has continued at Vukovar into 2025/26 while also featuring for Rijeka itself, with six appearances for the parent club so far this season.
Butić has represented Croatia at youth level, appearing for the under-19 side and receiving a call-up to the under-18s. A move to Slovenian side NŠ Mura for the 2026/27 season has been reported.
Listed as capable of playing either as a forward or in midfield, he wears the number 27 shirt at Vukovar.
