About the player
The Serbian SuperLiga Player of the Season award for 2022–23 went to Saša Jovanović, who was also named in the league's Team of the Season.
He began his senior career at Kolubara , staying four years, then spent a season at Smederevo before joining Mladost Lučani , where he played until 2017. Córdoba CF signed him in 2017, and over two seasons in Spain he made roughly 49 league appearances and scored six goals.
In 2019 he left for Al-Fateh SC of the Saudi Pro League — and was sent straight back to Spain, on loan to Deportivo de La Coruña for 2019–20. That spell brought 11 appearances and a single goal. He returned to Al-Fateh for 20 league appearances and three goals before the contract ended.
The 2021 return to Mladost Lučani was the most productive stretch of his career: 53 league appearances and 11 goals across the second spell. He joined TSC Bačka Topola in 2022.
He debuted on 29 September 2016 in a friendly against Qatar, a match Serbia lost 3–0. The second and, so far, last cap followed four months later, on 29 January 2017, a goalless draw with the United States.
