Shinichi Chan

Shinichi Chan made his senior debut for Hong Kong on 11 June 2019 against Chinese Taipei at the age of 16, becoming the youngest player ever to represent the national team. He has since won 36 caps and scored once, netting against Bhutan on 12 October 2023 in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier that Hong Kong won 4-0. He was also part of the Hong Kong squad at the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.

Chan came through the youth ranks at Central & Western District and Pegasus before signing with Resources Capital, where he made five senior appearances. A move to Kitchee in 2018 shaped the core of his career: over six years there he made 41 appearances and scored twice, and picked up a string of honours, including the Hong Kong Premier League title in 2019/2020 and 2020/2021, the HKPL Cup and Senior Shield in 2023/2024, the FA Cup in 2018/2019, and the Sapling Cup in 2019/2020, where he was named Player of the Match in the final.

In January 2023 he joined Real Unión in Spain's Primera Federación on loan, scoring one goal in five appearances before a foot fracture cut the spell short in June that year.

Chan signed for Shanghai Shenhua on 17 June 2024 on a two-year contract running to December 2026. He has become a regular fixture there, reaching around 89 appearances and 11 goals across all competitions by November 2025, and helped the club win the Chinese Super Cup in 2025, having also finished runner-up in the Chinese Super League in 2024.

At youth level, he represented Hong Kong at Under-17 (three caps, one goal), Under-20 (five caps) and Under-23 level, the latter spanning from 2019 to 2025.
