About the player
In September 2024, Simão Silva was handed a debut for Académico de Viseu in the Taça de Portugal against Lusitano GC, coming on in the 67th minute. By August 2026 he had made 43 competitive appearances for the first team, scoring once and setting up two more.
The goals came more often in youth football. In 2022/23 he scored nine in 28 matches in the Campeonato Nacional de Juniores, and Académico finished sixth, the club's best placing in that competition at the time. In the Liga Revelação U23 he added four in 18 games, and two in five appearances for the Sub-23 side during 2023/24, from a little over 400 minutes on the pitch.
Silva was at FC Porto from 2012 to 2016, then moved to SC Salgueiros and on to Boavista. He joined Académico in August 2023 to play for the U19 and U23 sides, and each of those transfers was made without a fee.
The professional contract followed on 29 June 2024, running to 2027. That December the club extended it to the summer of 2029.
In August 2026, with Bruno Pinheiro in charge at Viseu, Silva was loaned to II Liga club Amarante for the 2026/27 season. The move was made because he was considered surplus to the first-team squad.
