Thibault Klidje

Thibault Klidjé's move to Hibernian in the summer of 2025 set a club record, with the Scottish side paying a seven-figure fee to bring him in from Switzerland. He signed a three-year deal with the option of a fourth.

His path there ran through Togo and France. Klidjé began at Espoir Tsevie and Gomido FC in Togo before moving to Bordeaux in February 2020, first into the reserve side and then, from August 2021, into the first team, where he made five appearances in 2021/22. That spell ended with the contract dissolved by mutual agreement; Bordeaux had separately been sanctioned by FIFA over transfer rules connected to his move from Gomido. From Bordeaux, Klidjé signed for FC Lugano as a free agent on a three-year contract, going on to spend three seasons in Swiss football before Hibernian came in.

The Hibernian move did not immediately keep him in Edinburgh. In February 2026, he went out on loan to Randers, with the deal including an option to buy. Randers chose not to exercise it, and Klidjé returned to Hibernian at the end of the loan.

Internationally, Klidjé made his Togo debut in October 2021, coming on as a substitute in a 2022 World Cup qualifier against Congo that finished 1-1. He had also represented Togo at under-20 level. By March 2025 he had earned 17 caps and scored twice for the senior side. His form abroad was recognised at home: he won the OFA Trophy for best Togolese player playing overseas for the 2024/25 season, finishing ahead of Kevin Denkey, and he had earlier been honoured by the Togo under-23 coaching staff for his performances in friendly matches. In October 2024, he was among the nominees for Swiss Super League Player of the Week following a 2-2 draw against Lausanne.
