About the player
On 5 June 2020, Tom Kljun came on in a Slovenian PrvaLiga match against NK Rudar Velenje and became the youngest player in NK Celje's history to appear in a league game, at 16 years, 4 months and 7 days. He had come through the club's academy. Celje won the 2019–20 PrvaLiga that season; Kljun made two appearances in the campaign.
He left permanently in July 2021 for NK Tabor Sežana, where he played 37 league matches. In January 2023, U.S. Lecce signed him for an undisclosed fee and assigned him to the Primavera side. He made no first-team appearances in Italy and returned to Slovenia in November 2023 with NK Aluminij, scoring three goals in 16 matches.
A free transfer took him to NK Nafta 1903 in July 2024, and he played 23 league games there. In August 2025, Nafta loaned him to NK Rudar Velenje, then in the second division. He made 26 league appearances during the spell, scoring once and adding four assists before the loan ended in June 2026.
Kljun's move to FK Radnik Surdulica was agreed on 2 July 2026 and announced on 17 July: a free transfer from Nafta, on a contract running to 2029. It is his first move outside Slovenia since the Lecce spell.
He has represented Slovenia at every youth level from under-15 to under-19, with nine caps at U15, eight and four goals at U16, one at U17, six at U18 and eleven with two goals at U19. He has not yet played for the senior national side.
