Three weeks after finishing the season in Saudi Arabia's second tier, Al-Faisaly beat Al-Taawon 3–2 in the King Cup final and found themselves qualified for the AFC Champions League. It was the only King Cup the club has won.
The club that pulled that off began in 1954 as Shabab Harmah, formed by a group of local men under Sheikh Ibrahim ibn Nasser al-Mudlij. It took the name Al-Faisaly in 1966, after King Faisal bin Abdulaziz, and has carried it since without a merger or a change of city. Home games are played at the Al-Majma'ah Sports City Stadium, which holds 7,000.
Between the King Cup and that stadium sits a more familiar story: promotion battles won and lost. Al-Faisaly took the Second Division in 2002/03 and the First Division in 2009/10. The pattern has repeated since, and after a second-place finish in the First Division the club returned to the Saudi Pro League for 2025/26.
The King Cup run also produced the closest thing Al-Faisaly have to a measuring stick. They met Al-Hilal in the Super Cup, twice drew level at 2–2, and lost on penalties 4–3.
