Găgeni is a village inside the commune of Păulești, and the football team that started there in 1959 was Rapid GAC Găgeni.
What followed reads as a series of restarts rather than a run of seasons. It came back in 1973 as Petrolul Păuleşti, took the Rapid name again, was revived once more in 1989 as Victoria Păuleşti, spent the 1990s as Uranus, returned to Petrolul in 2000, became Artsani Păuleşti in 2008, and has been CS Păuleşti since 2015.
The competitive stretch that matters began at the bottom. The county fifth tier was won in 2008-09; the fourth followed in 2015-16, and again in 2021-22 after a return to that level. In between came three wins in the Prahova county stage of the Cupa României, in 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2017-18 — the middle one landing in the same spring as the Liga IV title.
