Auriense

In Ourense, the name Auriense carries weight. A club of that name played in the city from 1921 until it was dissolved in 1977, and Ourense Club de Fútbol, founded that same year, has been the city's senior side since. In 2026 the name came back on the shirts of a much younger team.

That team began as Cented Academy FS in 2020, set up by its president, Manu Cedrón. It entered league football in 2021 in the Segunda Galicia and worked its way up to Preferente Futgal, Group 2, where it plays now. The change of name to Auriense Cented Academy came in 2026, and it has stuck in the short form Auriense CA. The players are known as los aurienses, and they wear burgundy shirts with white borders and white socks.

The year of the rename was also the club's best. In July it won the Copa Diputación. In August it took the Supercopa Galicia against SD Negreira. The first leg finished 2–2, and in the second Auriense won 4–1. That result put them into the preliminary rounds of the 2026–27 Copa del Rey. Their home ground, the Campo Municipal de Oira, will host those ties.

Ourense CF plays across town at O Couto and has gone considerably further. It won the Segunda Federación in 2023/24 and reached the Round of 16 of the Copa del Rey in 2024/25. The two clubs stand at very different levels, and Auriense takes its name from a club that ended before either of them.
