Benkovski Isperih

In the 1977–78 Cup of the Soviet Army, Benkovski beat Cherveno zname Radomir 8-2. Haskovo were next and went out 3-0. The quarter-final ended in a 1-4 defeat to Akademik Svishtov, and the club never got closer to the final.

That run came in the years when Isperih, in the Razgrad region of north-eastern Bulgaria, had a second-division side. Visitors to the ground in those seasons gave it a name, the "Valley of Death". For three of those years, 1979 to 1982, the team did not play as Benkovski at all but as Ludogorska Slava. The name went back to Benkovski afterwards.

The red and white side had by then been going for more than half a century. It was founded in 1922, and in 1963 it won the Zone Group "Danube", the regional title that came before the B Group spell. The B Group years ran from 1975 to 1982, with a return in 1995–96.

Then football in the town stopped. The club was re-established in 2016 after a period of inactivity, and it did not have to work its way up slowly. In 2016/17, its first season back, it won the Razgrad Regional Group (East Subgroup). It now plays in the North-East Third League, where Chernolomets Popovo are the opponents it meets most often. The fixture has no name of its own.

The second tier gave the club eight seasons, and its best finish there was 12th, in 1976/77.
