Binéfar

Club Deportivo Binéfar began life in June 1922, when the Basols brothers put together the Sociedad Cultural Deportiva Binéfar; the present legal entity was reconstituted in 1941 under the name Club Deportivo Binéfar de Educación y Descanso.

The team plays in blue shirts and white shorts, which earned it the nickname "los celestes". At the Estadio de Los Olmos, holding 1,250, the club won Group 17 of the Tercera División five times. The high point came in 1997–98, when David Rodrigo, in charge of the side, took Binéfar to the Copa Federación de España title and up into Segunda División B in what is still remembered locally as the "Golden Season". He later went on to manage the Andorra national team.

Segunda B football did not last: across 13 seasons in that division the club's best finish was seventh, in 1983–84, and Binéfar settled back into the regional tiers, taking the Regional Preferente de Aragón title on several occasions, most recently in 2009–10. On the pitch, Yus holds the club's appearance record and Giménez its scoring one, while Enrique Rivas made the leap from Binéfar's ranks to clubs in Norway and New Zealand.

Derby day means Atlético Monzón, the neighbouring town across the Cinca.
