Bjelovar

The Bilogora derby settles most seasons in Bjelovar-Bilogora county, and Bjelovar have made a habit of winning it: the latest of them in 2024/25. That is the level at which the club has spent the past two decades — dominant in the county, and rarely more than that.

It began with schoolboys. Pupils at the gymnasium founded the town's first football club in 1908 under the name Oxford, and the date has stayed on the badge through every change of title since. There have been several. In the early 1980s a merger with Česma produced BSK Česma, which held a place in the republic league until 1991; after that the old name came back, and with it ten years in the Croatian second and third tiers. Second place in the northern group of the 2. HNL in 1996/97 remains the club's high-water mark.

The 110th anniversary in 2018 brought the national team to the ground for a friendly. Croatia scored fifteen; Bjelovar got one.

Since 2022 the home is the new Gradski stadion, 1,080 of its 4,000 places seated. Mario Ljevar, described locally as a child of the club, played there in the two seasons after the move.

The cup has come closest to giving Bjelovar something national. Lokomotiva in 2023/24 and Dinamo Zagreb the following season, the second of them postponed with the pitch under water. The club has never won the second division, and has not been in it since the run that followed 2003/04.
