The name on the shirt has changed more than once. The Unirea part of Petrolul Unirea Bolintin-Vale was dropped in 2002. A spell in the third tier followed, and it ended badly: in 2004–05 the team sat eleventh in its group and withdrew after the twenty-fourth round.
The 2013 title came with a 3–1 win over Spicul Izvoru in the final tournament, and again the county cup alongside it. Cătălin Popescu and Florentin Dumitrescu were among those in the squad that year.
What plays now is a different entity: ACS FC Bolintin Malu Spart 2017, formed in 2017, in yellow and blue, at Stadionul Bolintin-Vale. It won Liga IV Giurgiu in 2023–24 and went into the play-off against CSO Băicoi.
