Botev Ihtiman

The Amateur Cup went to Ihtiman this season, and the final was not close. At Georgi Benkovski Stadium in Pazardzhik, Botev beat Maritsa Milevo 4–1, with four different players scoring: Dimitar Pantaleev, Stefan Velev, Martin Denev and Borislav Baljdzhiski. For a side in the third tier, the South-West Third League, it is their most recent trophy.

The earlier title was won closer to home. In 2014–15 Botev took the Sofia Region Championship and were promoted on the back of it. That put them back among the leagues that count.

Its only real quarrel is with Rilski Sportist from Samokov. The two meet in what both sides call the Regional Derby, a fixture between neighbouring towns in which each side knows the other's players by name. The home ground holds 5,000 seats, and the capacity is said to be expandable to 7,500.

The club's own history reaches back to 1921, though it is also registered as Botev 1937, a name that points to a reorganisation along the way. From 1976 to 1984 Botev played in the B Group, then the second tier of Bulgarian football, for eight consecutive seasons.
