Brasil Farroupilha

Brasil de Farroupilha go into this season in the Campeonato Gaúcho Série A2 rather than any club across town — there is no rival waiting in Farroupilha itself, since this remains the only professional side the city has produced.

That solitary status goes back to a warehouse.

More recently it is the women's side carrying the name forward, with three interior state championships in 2019, 2020 and 2025.

Estádio das Castanheiras, holding 5,000, earned the club its nickname, Giant of the Castanheiras, and in 2014 FIFA signed off on the ground as a possible training base for the World Cup.

Paulo César Tinga is the name most followed around the club now — a midfielder who won titles at both Grêmio and Internacional before international caps, and who returned to Farroupilha not to play but to run the club as its president.
