Cascavel

The best of Cascavel's two Campeonato Paranaense finals came in 2023. On the way there the club beat Coritiba in the quarter-finals and Operário in the semi-finals, then lost the final to Athletico Paranaense. Two years earlier they had also reached the final and lost to Londrina. Both times they finished as runners-up.

The route to that point was short and started from a low base. The club came into being in 2008 through the family of Juliano Belletti, the Cascavel-born World Cup winner of 2006, who first built a training centre and worked with youth teams before turning professional. In 2012 the club pulled out of the state's second division over problems with its stadium and stopped operating. It came back on 27 June 2013 under President Juarez Luis Berté, with a new crest and the yellow and black colours that give it the nickname Serpente Aurinegra. It went back in at the third tier, won it that year, and won the second division in 2014 to reach the top flight.

From 2017 President Valdinei Silva ran the club as a business. He set up a holding company, Podium Participações, and put more money into the youth academy. The 2021 side was coached by Tcheco and the 2023 side by Paulo Foiani. Wagner de Medeiros Líbano, who holds the club record with 192 appearances, played through those seasons.

The city's older rival, Cascavel Clube Recreativo, played the "Clássico do Veneno" against them until it went inactive and moved to Toledo in early 2024 as Oeste Brasil FC. The nearest thing to a derby now is with Maringá FC.
