Chongqing Tongliang Long

Chengyu derby resumed at the top level in 2026. Chongqing Tongliang Long's opponent in that fixture, Chengdu Rongcheng, drew the club's biggest single-day crowd on record: 55,868, in a season that averaged 51,571 across home matches — the 25th-highest average attendance anywhere in the world in 2025. A regional rivalry with Sichuan Jiuniu runs alongside it, and behind both sits an older loss: Chongqing Liangjiang Athletic, the city's previous professional club, folded at the end of 2021.

The Chongqing Football Association, Xuantian Lake Culture and Media and Sichuan Zhongheng Huayi built a side around the youth team of Chongqing Furen High School and the Chongqing under-18 squad that had taken silver at the National Games in Qinhuangdao, entering the fifth-tier Chongqing Amateur Super League on 23 December 2021 as Chongqing Youth and winning it that same year. Promotion followed almost annually: runners-up in the China Meng Championship League in 2022, champions of China League Two in 2023 — a season that also took them to the Chinese FA Cup quarter-final past Super League side Chengdu Rongcheng before Shanghai Shenhua ended the run — and second in China League One in 2025, the result that sent Chongqing Tongliang Long into the Super League for the first time.

Zhang Wuyong took the team up; Liu Jianye has managed since December 2025. Ownership passed from state control under the Chongqing FA and the Tongliang district government to the private Chongqing Jiayuqi Sports Culture Development Co., which holds roughly 84.2 per cent since late 2024. Cameroon captain Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui, capped in three Africa Cup of Nations campaigns and a 2023 China Super League Team of the Season pick, anchors the back line.

Home games are split between two grounds in Tongliang district: Longxing Football Stadium, built for 60,000, and the smaller Tongliang Long Stadium, holding 15,000, with the 2026 fixture list using both.
