Cosmos Koblenz

Josué Duverger keeps goal for Haiti at the 2026 World Cup finals and for Cosmos Koblenz in Germany's fifth tier, a gap in level that says something about how this club works. He joined Cosmos in the summer of 2024 and was later named in Haiti's squad for the finals.

Cosmos was formed in June 2007 in Koblenz's Bubenheim district and spent over a decade working through the bottom rungs of German amateur football before a deliberate rebuild in July 2020 changed the club's direction. Promotion followed promotion: the Bezirksliga Mitte title in 2022 lifted Cosmos into the Rheinlandliga, and a runner-up finish there sent it up again into the Oberliga a year later. The stay didn't last — Cosmos went back down to the Rheinlandliga in 2024, won the division again in 2025, and returned to the Oberliga for the season ahead.

Home matches moved to the Stadion Oberwerth in July 2025, a ground holding 9,500 that Cosmos now shares with Rot-Weiß Koblenz. The two meet in a Koblenz derby that also pulls in TuS Koblenz from across the city. Supporters know the side by an unofficial name, the Cosmonauts, turning out in navy and white.

José-Junior Matuwila signed in 2025 carrying senior international experience with Angola and a playing career that passed through Energie Cottbus and 1. FC Kaiserslautern, a résumé well above the level he now plays at most weekends.
