Denmark U19

Sweden and Norway are the names that follow every Danish youth side onto the pitch, and the U19s carry the same rivalry the senior team has carried for decades: matches against either neighbour are filed under the Scandinavian derby, with nothing gentle about them regardless of the age group.

Silverware has stayed out of reach. Denmark U19 has never won a European title and has reached the finals of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship only twice — in 2024, in Northern Ireland, finishing bottom of their group, and in 2026, in Wales, where third place in Group A sent them into a play-off for a spot at the Under-20 World Cup. That tie against Italy finished goalless, and Denmark won it 5-4 on penalties.

Home games are played at Parken in Copenhagen, the same 38,190-seat ground the senior side uses, in the red and white shirts Denmark have always worn.

Christian Eriksen passed through the squad in 2009, a few years after Kasper Schmeichel and Simon Kjær had done the same. Nicklas Bendtner, Yussuf Poulsen, Martin Braithwaite and Daniel Agger all wore the shirt as teenagers before their senior careers took shape.

The side itself dates to 1950, set up as an Under-18 team before UEFA's 2001 reform moved the age bracket up a year. Its first match, that July, was a 1-1 draw away to Norway in Oslo.
