Diablos Rojos took the LNBP championship in their first season, beating Soles de Mexicali in the West Zone finals and then Halcones de Xalapa 3–2 in the league final, closing it out 82–76 on 6 December 2024. Avry Holmes was named Finals MVP; Gael Bonilla took the league's Revelation of the Year award in the same season.
The franchise carries the name of one of Mexico City's best-known sporting brands. It was founded in May 2024 by the Fundación Alfredo Harp Helú, which already ran the Diablos Rojos baseball club, and the basketball side took the same colours and the same nickname straight into the LNBP as an expansion team based in the Benito Juárez borough.
None of it was expected of a club that had played its first competitive minute only months before it was lifting a championship trophy.
