Douglas Hall

Clare Shine started in the youth system at Douglas Hall, went on to Cork City Women, Glasgow City and the Republic of Ireland senior team, and then came back to the club that first put her in a shirt.

Others followed a similar line. Nathalie O'Brien became a Republic of Ireland international and was named FAI Football for All Player of the Year in 2018. Rebekah Grant, a Republic of Ireland Deaf international, took the same award in 2023 and played for Douglas Hall in recent cup runs.

The women's side has produced the club's best results. In 2013 it won the FAI Women's Intermediate Cup. In 2022 it won the Cork Women's Schoolgirls Soccer League (CWSSL) Senior Women's Premier League without losing a match, and reached the final of the same Intermediate Cup, where it lost to Whitehall Rangers.

The men's team has no major title. Its best run in the FAI Cup came in 2007, when it reached the last 16. In 2012 the cup draw brought a tie with Wexford Youths, and the club is sometimes wrongly placed in Wexford as a result. It has always been in Cork.

The club was formed in 1971 and has never changed its name. Denis "Dinny" Carroll served as honorary president for more than 50 years. The yellow and blue side, known locally as The Hall, plays at Moneygourney, on a full-size grass pitch with a floodlit astro-turf pitch beside it. Its nearest rival is College Corinthians, from the same Douglas district. Douglas Hall itself competes in the Munster Senior League.
