Dunărea 2020 Giurgiu

Promotion out of Liga IV came with a scoreline that read more like a statement than a formality: Dunărea 2020 Giurgiu beat Bărăganul Ciulnița 7-2 in the county play-off final in the 2022/2023 season and went up to Liga III.

The club's paperwork dates to 2020, when a new management structure was registered under the name it carries now, but the shirt has an older claim on the city. FC Dunărea Giurgiu played under that name from 1948 until 2010, when it was renamed Astra II and folded two years later. A 2013 revival brought the name back as CSM Dunărea Giurgiu, and the badge has stayed on Giurgiu's football map since, cup draws included — a third-round tie once sent Steaua București to town, though the sides share nothing beyond the fixture list.

Liga III has proven a harder league to make an impression in than the one they left. A fourth-place finish in the regular season followed by fourth in the play-offs marked the 2023/2024 campaign; a year later, moved into a different Liga III group, the team finished sixth and then ninth in the relegation round. Bogdan Vitilă took charge for the 2025/2026 season, with Alexandru Popa lined up to succeed him for the one after.

Home games are played at the Stadionul Marin Anastasovici, in front of fans who call the team Acvilele albaștrii — the Blue Eagles — a nod to the blue and white the club has carried through every version of its name.
