Eiche Horn

Horn-Lehe, a district of Bremen, is where TV Eiche Horn has kept its clubhouse. 26 young men, tired of crossing the city to train with a Turnverein in Schwachhausen, met in a hotel room and formed a gymnastics society of their own — Turnverein Eiche Horn — on 23 July 1899. A football section followed only in 1920. Today it is one of many sports run for the club's 3,500-plus members, from judo to floorball.

The team plays at Sportanlage Fritzewiese, also known locally as the Berckstraße ground, which holds 2,500 and doubles as the home track for the club's athletics section. Eiche Horn's colours are yellow, green and black, and the club has never carried a nickname.

Football silverware has stayed modest and local. Eiche Horn last held a place in Bremen's top flight between 1992 and 1998. It took until 2023 to close that gap: the club won the Bezirksliga that year, then took the Landesliga title in 2024 to reach the Bremen-Liga, the fifth tier of German football. Along the way, matches against SV Hemelingen — a neighbour from the same district — have carried more weight than most; local papers file the fixture as a Spitzenspiel. Leher TS, also based in Horn-Lehe, supplies the other side of that local rivalry.

Beyond football, gymnast Pia Böttcher, named Bremen's Sportswoman of the Year in 2003, and karateka Jürgen Fabian, European champion in 1995, have carried the club's name further than any of its football sides managed. The Bremen-Liga remains the highest level Eiche Horn's footballers have reached, and nothing above it has come yet.
