Favoritner AC

Favoritner AC play this season in the Regionalliga Ost, Austria's third tier, a level they returned to in 2023 after a climb back from the fifth division that took more than twenty years.

The club began in 1910 as the football section of a skittles club in Vienna's Favoriten district, and the Austrian federation admitted it that December. Its only sustained run in the top flight came between 1935 and 1938, when it finished eighth in successive seasons before relegation followed Austria's annexation by Germany. A second spell in the top division, from 1983 to 1985, brought Robert and Josef Sara into the side and gave a young Peter Stöger his start.

A women's team playing under the club's name won the first Austrian women's football championship in 1972/73. The section was disbanded shortly after.

Money ran out in 1997, and Favoritner AC fell as far as the fifth division, merging for a time with 1. Simmeringer SC. The recovery from that point ran through an Oberliga A title in 2002 and continued in stages until the return to the Regionalliga Ost two decades later.

Home games are played at the FavAC-Platz, which holds 5,000, under the club's red and black colours and the nickname Red Devils. The task now is to hold a place in the tier the club spent so long working back towards.
