FK Spartak Tambov

Spartak Tambov's defining number is 74 — the home league matches the club went unbeaten between 1996 and 2000.

The team dates to 1960, when it first took the field as Spartak. From 1972 to 1979 it played under the name Revtrud, then reverted to Spartak in 1980.

In 2013 the original club lost its professional status once funding stopped, and a new side, FK Tambov, took its place on the same base. FK Tambov reached the Russian Premier League in 2018 but was disbanded in 2021 after running into financial trouble. The following year Spartak Tambov was revived, built around the city's football academy, and now competes in the Second League's Division B. Home games are played at the Spartak stadium on Karl Marx Street, which holds 4,990, and the team plays in red and white.

Sergei Pervushin is the club's record scorer with 104 goals and finished as the Second League's top scorer in 2003. Vladimir Kovylin took charge from 1991 to 2006 and returned for a second spell from 2009 to 2013.
