The players who walked out of the Le Messager academy in Gitega did not leave football behind; they set up their own academy, and by 2011 it had a name of its own — Académie Le Messager FC Gitega. That borrowed half of the name caused trouble later. Three years after the side reached the top flight, the Burundian federation ruled that the two clubs were too easily confused and ordered a change. The academy became Flambeau du Centre FC .
Promotion put the club in Ligue A for the 2017-18 season.
Home is Stade Ingoma , which holds 10 000. The club plays in sky blue and white.
