Flight Fc Gboko

Gboko sits in Benue State, a farming and transport hub where haulage drivers working for Flight Transport Limited put together a football team in 2017 rather than watch talent drift toward bigger cities. Andiir Solomon Atoo led the effort, and the club took its name and its red colours from the company that backed it.

The Transporters, as they are known, found their footing quickly. Two years after forming, they won the Benue State League in the 2018–19 season, a title that gave the young club its first real standing in the state. They train away from matchday, at Fidei Polytechnic, before walking out at J.S. Tarka Stadium, which holds 15,000.

Youth football has carried the club's name further than its senior side has managed in the President Federation Cup, where a Round of 64 win over Technobat in 2025 and a quarter-final appearance against Wikki Tourist the following year mark the high points so far. The under-17 side reached a national final, the Stephen Keshi Tournament, and lost 1-0 to Insurance FC Feeders — a result still cited locally as the closest Flight FC has come to a national trophy.

Stanley Oganbor gave the club its most productive spell in front of goal, scoring 18 times in 30 appearances before leaving and then returning for a second run in which he added 14 more. Bernard Bulbwa, who scored the winner in the 2015 AFCON Under-20 Championship final for Nigeria, has also worn the shirt, as has Otekpa Eneji, a two-cap Super Eagles player who arrived in 2023 after spells at Enyimba and Kano Pillars among others.

What Flight FC Gboko has not built is visibility beyond Benue State: an official website was said to have launched in 2020, but nothing of it circulates now. For a club that began as drivers organising a team of their own, that has never seemed to be the point.
