FSV Frankfurt

FSV Frankfurt has a history that includes a runners-up medal from the 1925 national championship final, lost 0–1 to Nürnberg, and another from the 1938 cup final, lost 1–3 to Rapid Wien.

The club dates to 20 August 1899 and has never changed its name or merged with another side. FSV came close only once, forced into a joint wartime side with Eintracht between 1944 and 1945 and briefly reconstituted as SG Bornheim before reclaiming its old name by the end of 1945. It was not among the founding members of the Bundesliga in 1963 and has built its history in the tiers below it since, currently playing in the Regionalliga Südwest.

The women's team, dissolved in 2006 after the club could no longer fund it, achieved what the men never did: German champions in 1986, 1995 and 1998, and domestic cup winners five times between 1985 and 1996.

Richard Herrmann, part of West Germany's 1954 World Cup-winning squad, gave his name to the stadium at Richard-Herrmann-Platz, now known as the BBBank Arena and holding 12,542. The Frankfurt derby against Eintracht has been played at every level the gap between the clubs allowed, most notably in 2011–12, when FSV sat in the 2. Bundesliga just as Eintracht returned to it after relegation. Vincenzo Grifo spent the 2014–15 season on loan there before going on to captain both Borussia Mönchengladbach and Freiburg and play for Italy.
