Fürstenfeld

In 2022, the club's women's team won the Steirische Frauenoberliga Süd/Ost and then beat Kötz Haus Ladies Preding 2:1 in the final of the Styrian Cup, taking both titles in the same season.

Fürstenfeld grew out of that gap between ambition and reality long before the double. Founded in 1929 as Fürstenfelder Sportklub, the club settled into Styrian football as a fixture rather than a contender, its black and red never quite pulling it above regional level for long stretches at a time. What it built instead was a pipeline: more than 150 children train weekly in the youth academy, and it has sent players onward rather than kept them. Dietmar Pegam left the playing side behind to coach at Grazer AK and Sturm Graz, while Herwig Karl moved on to spells at SV Ried and SV Oberwart. Andreas Glaser stayed and became the club's all-time top scorer, the sort of figure a smaller club measures itself against instead of a title.

Derbies against USV Gnas and Ilzer SV carry more weight locally than the league table does, matches where the history between them adds an edge no result in the standings can. The stadium holds under 2,000, which keeps those afternoons close and loud rather than grand.

For now the men's side continues its familiar business in the Landesliga, while the women's team, still carrying the form that won it a league and cup double, looks to defend the standing it built in 2022.
