Gerasdorf Stammersdorf

In 1998, Gerasdorf's senior side packed up and left. SV Gerasdorf's first team relocated to St. Pölten and turned into FC Niederösterreich, leaving the youth section with nowhere to go. Rather than let the young players scatter, the club merged that youth setup with FC Stammersdorf's senior team, and SV Gerasdorf/Stammersdorf was born.

Both predecessor clubs were younger than the merger itself suggests: SV Gerasdorf dated to 1966, FC Stammersdorf to 1973, formally registered a year later. The new club settled at Franz-Hein-Stadion on Teichgasse, a 4,000-capacity ground in Gerasdorf bei Wien.

The closest SVG came to real silverware was the 2006/07 season, when the team topped Oberliga B and reached the final of the Austrian amateur cup, the Totocup, only to be beaten 4-1 by Wien. A second amateur cup final followed in 2013/14, lost 3-1 to Admira Technopool. Before the merger, SV Gerasdorf had already lifted that same amateur cup once, beating Ostbahn XI 5-1 in 1993, and topped the Wiener Stadtliga a year later.

The club has leaned on its own academy rather than recruitment, and Bernhard Ebinger is the name attached to that idea — 25 seasons in the shirt as captain, now an honorary member. Daniel Plank, his eventual successor as leader on the pitch, was named the club's player of the 2023/24 season.

SVG still plays in the Wiener Stadtliga, the fourth tier of Austrian football, where games against FC Stadlau carry the weight of a local derby. The clearest sign the academy work is paying off came in 2025, when Larissa Rusek, raised in the club, received her first call-up to the Austria women's national team.
