The oldest boys in the group have Copa do Brasil Sub-20 in front of them in 2026, the reward for taking the Campeonato Sul-Mato-Grossense Sub-20 title in 2025 with a 2-0 win over Naviraiense in the final. Grêmio Santo Antônio does not field a senior side and never has — it runs only youth categories.

Fernando Canepelle started the project in Campo Grande in 2013, putting boys from the city into organised football rather than building a club to chase results. The Sub-17 side answered first, taking the state title in 2019 and again in 2020, and it was that age group that carried the club into its two Copa do Brasil Sub-17 campaigns. In 2020 they beat Cruzeiro in the opening round. A year later São Paulo beat them 14-0, still the heaviest defeat the competition has recorded.

Home games are played at Estádio Jacques da Luz, known locally as the Toca do Morango, in the Moreninhas district. City derbies go to Operário and Comercial, the two established names in Campo Grande football, and the meetings with Operário are the ones local media call the dérbi da Capital. Three boys from the project, Renan Caneppelle, Nedinei Brum and Inaldo Lisboa among them, were asked to train with Corinthians' youth setup in 2017, a small sign that the pathway Canepelle built was being noticed outside Mato Grosso do Sul.
