Harju Jk Laagri U21

Three names come up when Harju JK Laagri U21 take the field in Esiliiga: Tallinna FC Flora, FCI Levadia Tallinn and JK Tallinna Kalev, each sending its own reserve side against a club that plays out of a village on Tallinn's edge rather than the capital itself. No fixture among them carries a name of its own.

The reserve side exists to feed the first team, and in 2024 it did its job almost too well: Harju JK Laagri U21 finished top of their zone in the second-tier league, a result that carried no promotion with it, since reserve sides in Estonian football are barred from moving up regardless of where they finish. The first team, meanwhile, had already made the climb the U21s cannot: promoted to Meistriliiga, Estonia's top flight, dropped back down, then promoted again in 2024 under coach Victor da Silva, who took the club from the fourth division to the second across four straight winning seasons after joining in 2019.

What the U21 side has produced instead is players. Karel Mustmaa signed a three-year professional contract with Benfica in September 2021. Imre Kartau moved on to Venezia. Karel Eerme, who came through the same system, became the first player from the Harju JK academy to be called up to Estonia's senior national team, in 2025, and remains a fixture in the club's own first-choice lineup. One product of the U21 ranks, Sten-Marten Vahi, who played for the side in 2022 and 2023, stayed on at the club afterwards as its goalkeeping coach.

Matches are played at Laagri kunstmurustaadion, where a wooden stand for 500 spectators went up in 2025. The club began in 2009, founded as a football school under the name Harju Jalgpallikool Laagri, with development of youth football as its purpose rather than first-team results.
