«Verdão do Cariri»
José Feijó de Sá had already put his name to one Icasa, the club he helped Doro Germano start in 1963. That version went bankrupt in 1998, and on 7 January 2002 Feijó de Sá built another from its remains in Juazeiro do Norte. The Federação Cearense de Futebol has never treated the new club as heir to the old one, so the two exist on paper as separate histories, even if the name and the city are the same.
The Campeonato Cearense title from 1992, shared rather than won outright, belongs to that earlier, defunct incarnation, and Icasa has spent the years since chasing something closer to its own. The Taça Fares Lopes gave it that, back to back in 2021 and 2022, and the Campeonato Cearense Série B came twice as well, in 2003 and 2020, marking the club's return trips to the state's second tier. André Turatto is remembered on both sides of that story, as a player first and later as a director shaping the club from the boardroom.
Icasa carries green and white and the nickname Verdão do Cariri, a claim on the wider Cariri region it shares with Guarani de Juazeiro, its opponent in the Clássico do Cariri. That fixture draws its heat less from trophies than from proximity, two clubs from the same corner of Ceará with nothing between them but the derby itself.
What the current Icasa plays for, in the end, traces back to a man rebuilding a club he had already lost once.
