Itapipoca

Whenever Itapipoca meets Guarany de Sobral, the match carries the weight of the rivalry that most shapes how the club is watched at home, even without a fixed name attached to the derby.

Itapipoca Esporte Clube carries a nickname, "Garoto Travesso", that has stuck longer than most of its results, and its blue, yellow and green shirts are drawn straight from the city flag rather than from any borrowed club palette. Founded on 20 December 1993, the club has spent most of its existence circling the second tier of Ceará football rather than pushing into the state's top flight, though a run in the national Série C in 2007 briefly took it beyond regional company.

Its identity rests on the Campeonato Cearense Série B, which it has won three times. The first, in 2002, and a second in 2013 built the case that Itapipoca belonged among the state's more durable second-tier sides; the third, sealed on penalties against Icasa on 14 June 2026, closed a gap of thirteen years and gave the club its most recent reason to be taken seriously again.

The club plays in front of a modest crowd at the Estádio Municipal Perilo Teixeira, known locally as "Perilão", a ground whose exact capacity is argued over more than its atmosphere. What is not in doubt is its place in Itapipoca: a stadium sized to a city rather than to ambition, where three state second-division titles carry more weight than they might elsewhere, and where the next meeting with Guarany de Sobral is never just another fixture.
