Köflach

Köflach sits in the Bezirk Voitsberg, in western Styria, and has fielded a football side since 1936, when local youths formed ASK Köflach. Home matches are played at the Werner-Skrabitz-Stadion, which holds 2,500.

The club's history reads as a repeated climb and slide through the divisions. It first reached the Regionalliga, then Austria's second tier, in 1965, and lasted two seasons before dropping back down. A second spell there ran from 2001 to 2007, after which Köflach fell as far as the sixth tier by 2012. It won the Unterliga West in 2015, finishing 15 points clear of the field, then worked back up through the Oberliga before returning to the Landesliga Steiermark in 2021/22 under coach Goran Miličević — the fourth tier, where it still plays.

The most notable name to come through the youth ranks is René Aufhauser, who trained at the club between 1984 and 1993 before going on to win the Austrian championship four times and earn 58 caps for the national side. Andreas Lasnik started out at Köflach in 2001 and later played once for Austria himself.

None of that carries the weight of the Weststeiermark derby: ASK Voitsberg, from the same district, is the fixture that matters most, with Bärnbach providing the smaller, more local rivalry.
