Kornburg

Kornburg's club began as a Turn- und Sportverein, a combined gymnastics-and-sports association rather than a football side on its own, football just one strand of a wider communal life in the district. It took shape in May 1932 as TSV Kornburg 1932 e.V., giving the district its own club rather than leaving Franconian villagers to follow Nuremberg's bigger sides.

Matches are played at the Sportgelände Kellermannstraße, a ground holding 1,700, with the team turning out in red and white.

Two Landesliga Nordost titles, in 2016/17 and 2021/22, each brought promotion into the Bayernliga — the high points of a rise that started with Bezirksliga titles in 2007/08 and 2014/15.

The Franconian press has nicknamed Kornburg the "Geldverein" — the money club — for a recruitment habit sharper than its level would suggest, with known amateur names such as Marcel Götz signing here. Dominik Rohracker, once capped by Germany, and the Polish forward Rafał Wodniok have both worn the shirt too. Friendlies against FC Nürnberg and SpVgg Ansbach fill out the fixture list without the edge of a genuine rivalry — Franconian neighbours meeting, not old enemies.

Behind all of it still sits the idea that gave the club its name in 1932: a Turn- und Sportverein, sport for the district first, football only one part of it.
