Kuřim

Football arrived in Kuřim, a small town just outside Brno, well before the war, and the club carrying the name today was founded in 1931. Progress came slowly at first, mostly against local sides, until the 1945/46 season, when the team climbed as high as it has ever gone: the Moravsko-Slezská divize, the country's second tier at the time. It returned there briefly in 1951 and 1952, then dropped back into regional football and stayed.

The decades since have brought a run of regional titles — the I. A třída crown in 1949, 1956, 2006/07 and 2014/15 — but only one push back toward the top: winning the Jihomoravský župní přebor in 1992/93 lifted Kuřim into Division D, where it held on until 1996 and finished runner-up in 1994/95. A near-identical run played out almost thirty years later, when second place in the Přebor Jihomoravského kraje in 2023/24 returned the club to Division D for 2024/25, where it again finished second.

Two cups followed in quick succession. Kuřim beat Tatran Rousínov 2:1 in the final to take the Krajský pohár dospělých in 2022/23, then won the regional Superpohár the year after, edging MŠK Senec 4:3 on penalties following a goalless draw.

Home games are played at the Městský fotbalový stadion, built in 1956 and holding 10,000 — far more than the club fills at this level. The colours are blue and white.

Mario Holek, once capped for the Czech national team during spells at Sparta Prague and Zbrojovka Brno, returned to Kuřim in 2019, though injury kept him out of every official match for the club. Filip Smrčka, raised in the academies of Zbrojovka and Red Bull Salzburg, joined this year.

Even the two cups and the two runner-up finishes in Division D have not been enough to push Kuřim back to the level it touched in 1945/46.
