L'Hospitalet

L'Hospitalet de Llobregat sits close enough to Barcelona to be swallowed by it, yet no other club of any size has grown up there — CE L'Hospitalet, known to its own as L'Hospi, has always been the city's only side. It was born on 7 July 1957, when three local clubs, UD Hospitalet, CD Santa Eulalia and CF Hércules, merged into one, and it still plays at the Estadi Municipal, a ground holding 6,740.

The best spell came early and did not last. Between 1963 and 1966 the club spent three seasons in the Segunda División, the only football above regional and third-tier level it has ever played; Zoltán Czibor wore the shirt through the 1963/64 season. The fall was just as sharp — by 1977 L'Hospitalet had slipped out of the national leagues altogether.

Recognition since then has come in patches: five Tercera División titles between 1959/60 and 2019/20, the 2012/13 Segunda B group championship, and the Copa Catalunya in 2020. The club has never finished higher than 11th in the Segunda, a mark set in 1964/65 and never matched again.

Its nearest rival, UE Cornellà, sits a few kilometres down the same river valley, and games between the two are known as the Llobregat derby. Money has proven harder to manage than results — by 2025 the club carried debts of around 1.2 million euros, which pushed it into a reform effort involving former players Jordi Alba and Thiago Alcântara.

Of everyone who has worn the shirt, the name still tied most closely to L'Hospitalet is Adama Traoré, who came through the youth academy before moving on to Barcelona, Wolverhampton Wanderers and the Spain national team.
