Lukas Jungwirth spent his teenage seasons in Pasching before the senior side made his move permanent in January 2025, one of the few names the LASK academy can point to and say: this is what the pathway is for. Emanuel Schreiner made the same journey back in 2008, proof the route has been open a long time, even if it stays narrow.

The under-19 side carries LASK's black and white and its academy label, LASK Akademie OÖ, and works out of the TGW Arena in Pasching rather than the club's own ground in Linz, a stadium built for around 6,000 that suits a youth fixture better than a first-team crowd. The academy itself was set up as a separate company in 2005, decades after the senior club's founding, built specifically to grow players rather than compete for the Austrian league table itself.

What the team is judged on now is Europe. LASK U19 has reached the UEFA Youth League in six straight seasons running through 2026/27, drawing AEK Athens and Fenerbahçe among this year's opponents, fixtures that put Pasching-trained teenagers against academies from Athens and Istanbul rather than domestic under-19 sides alone. Christian Haselberger works as co-coach with the group, part of a staff more often defined by who it sends up than by who runs the sessions.

Domestic silverware has not followed the European exposure, at least not in a way the club points to. The rivalries the teenagers grow up around are the same ones waiting in the first team: Blau-Weiß Linz across the city, Ried down the road, derbies the academy graduates already know by the time they're old enough to play in them.
