Levski Sofia

The club itself began in 1914, founded by a group of students under the name SK Levski, and its name changed with the country's politics more than once. A 1944 merger produced Levski'45; a further merger with Prodovolstvenik in 1949, carried out under the Soviet model then taking hold across Bulgaria, replaced it with Dinamo, and the historic name returned only in 1957. Another merger, with Spartak and Sportist Kremenetsi in 1969, attached the name Levski-Spartak, which lasted until 1985, when an incident in the Bulgarian Cup final led to the club's dissolution — it was rebuilt as Vitosha before Levski returned in stages through the late 1980s and 1990s, settling as PFC Levski Sofia in 1998.

Home is Georgi Asparuhov Stadium, known locally as Gerena, capacity 17,688, named for the forward who scored 153 goals in 239 appearances between 1959 and 1971. Shirt, shorts and socks are blue, and the nicknames follow it: the Blues, the Team of the People, the Blue Avalanche.

Nasko Sirakov, the club's record scorer with 209 goals in 264 games between 1981 and 1994, now serves as club president. Stefan Aladzhov holds the appearance record, 469 games between 1967 and 1981.

Levski have been Bulgarian champions 27 times; the most recent title arrived in 2026.
