Makeni All Stars

For Makeni All Stars the Lusaka derby has been less a feud than a ladder.

The club was founded in 2016 and played its first Division One match in 2022. John Mwale scored four goals in it. Three years later, as leaders of the Football Association of Zambia's Lusaka Division One table, they qualified for the ABSA Cup, the country's premier knockout competition, at their first attempt. The tie against Muchinga Blues Eagles went to a shootout that finished 5-4 to the Stars, and it took them into the last 16. Cup football has its own rules, and a club that young had no business being in that round.

The promotion from Lusaka Division One to the Zambia National League came around the same time. In 2026 the Stars won the National League itself, which brought automatic promotion to the Zambia Super League, the top flight, for the first time. The club's president is Benedict Bwalya.

The academy side of the story is smaller but visible. Midfielder Mike Mutale Bwalya was picked for the Zambia Under-17 squad for the 2025 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, so the club has already supplied a national-team player.

The Stars play at the REIZ Arena, which holds 15,000.
