Malmslätt is the district that gives the club its name. Malmslätts AIK, known simply as MAIK, was founded there in 1926.
The club's best seasons came in Division III, the third tier of Swedish football, reached in 1976 and again across 1980 and 1981, with a further qualification attempt in 2002.
Hellgrenshagen, the ground on Gamla vägen, opened on 29 August 1948 with a match against BK Derby. Two small wooden stands sit along the southern side, both movable, and there has never been permanent seating to count as a fixed capacity.
