«The Miners»
Twelve league titles now sit alongside the club's name, the most recent stretched across 2024, 2025 and 2026, and each one still runs through the same fixture: the derby against CF Mounana, the neighbouring club from across the manganese belt of Haut-Ogooué. Gabonese football calls that meeting the Derby de la capitale économique.
Moanda built the club around Comilog, the mining company that gave the town its purpose and the team its nickname, The Miners. The 1962 founding date matters less than what the mines put behind the shirt for decades afterward.
The domestic record extends past the league into six Coupe du Gabon wins, stretching from 1964 to 2011, and into the Super Coupe, where Mangasport beat Mounana for the 2015 title. Continentally the story reads differently. Five entries in the CAF Champions League have produced nothing better than a first-round finish, in 2007 and again in 2009.
