In 1914, Jerome Ostijn and a handful of friends founded a football club at the tavern De Belle-Vue in Marke, a district of Kortrijk. The war put a stop to any matches almost as soon as they started, and it took until 1922 for the club to take the field again. Formal recognition by the Royal Belgian Football Association followed in 1924, when Marke was entered into the national register under matricule number 2255.
The choice of green and black for the shirts was not an accident of taste: the founders borrowed the colours from Cercle Brugge.
Marke's only outright championship dates back to the 1937-38 season, when the side topped the Third Provincial division. For long stretches afterwards the club settled into the rhythms of provincial football without adding to that record, until three promotions arrived in close succession: up to Third Provincial in 2019/20, then Second Provincial in 2022/23, and First Provincial — the top provincial tier in West Flanders — in 2023/24.
Home games are played at Sportcentrum Olympiadeplein, a 2,500-capacity ground with a plain grass pitch and no floodlights, which keeps Marke's fixtures anchored to daylight hours.
Given its position in the shadow of Kortrijk, Marke has kept up occasional friendlies against KV Kortrijk.
