Mauritius U23

Complexe Sportif de Côte d'Or, in Saint Pierre, holds 7,000. The senior team once played at the larger Stade Anjalay and at Stade George V before settling there.

The under-23 team sits under the Mauritius Football Association, founded in 1952 and affiliated to FIFA in 1964 and to CAF the following year. Its route runs through CAF's Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which double as African Olympic qualifying, and Mauritius has never advanced through that stage. In 2018 the team met Kenya's under-23s in one such qualifying tie, and in the 2022/2023 cycle it was drawn against Congo DR.

Regionally, the age group also turns out in the COSAFA under-20/under-23 championships. The rivalries that matter most to Mauritian football, though, come from closer to home: matches against Réunion, Madagascar, Seychelles and Comoros carry the weight of the Indian Ocean Island Games, and those fixtures shape the under-23 group as much as the senior team.

There is no separate identity built around the young side; it plays in the shadow of "Les Dodos," the nickname carried by the senior national team, and takes the field without a badge of its own beyond the one it shares with the association. What it has is the ground at Saint Pierre, a modest 7,000-capacity venue that asks little of a team still waiting for its breakthrough tournament.
