Miranda Do Norte U20

Estádio Biran Castro holds around 2,000 people and sits in Cantanhede, a municipality some 24 kilometres from Miranda do Norte itself. Local sides have grown used to sharing grounds and squads across that stretch of Maranhão, and the U20 side is regularly entered in tournaments as a joint entity, Miranda do Norte/Cantanhede, rather than standing entirely apart from its neighbour.

That closeness with Cantanhede cuts both ways. Cantanhede FC is the team's fiercest rival, and their meetings are known locally as the Clássico do Vale do Itapecuru, played out along the Itapecuru river valley the two towns share.

The senior club traces back to a sporting association registered in Miranda do Norte in 1990. Its one significant trophy came well before the current age-group side existed: the Torneio Intermunicipal de Futebol do Maranhão, won in 2009.

The under-20 team has built its own, more recent record. In 2025 it reached the semi-finals of the Campeonato Maranhense Sub-20, and that run carried it into wider competition: a place in the 2026 Copa do Nordeste Sub-20, where it was drawn into a group alongside EC Bahia U20 and Santa Cruz FC PE U20, and an entry into the Copa do Brasil Sub-20 the same year.
