Nafta

The team traces back to 11 May 1903, when Lendava was still part of Hungary and the local side played as Lendvai Football Egyesület. It went through the interwar years as NK Lendava and SK Lendava before taking the name Nafta in 1946, the year it also won the Slovenian Republic championship in the first post-war season.

Independence brought Nafta into the new Slovenian top flight in 1991, but the club that had carried the town's history since 1903 went bankrupt in 2012. Supporters and officials in Lendava did not let the story end there: on 9 July that year, NK Nafta 1903 was formed on the old club's foundations, keeping the badge, the colours and the place in local football. The current side's best moment so far came in 2019–20, when it reached the Slovenian Cup final and lost to Radomlje.

Home games are played at Športni park Lendava, a 3,000-capacity ground known locally as Mestni Stadion, with 2,000 of those seats under cover. The club plays in blue and white, and the nickname Plavi follows from the colour alone. Matches against NK Beltinci and NŠ Mura carry the weight of regional rivalry, known around Prekmurje as the Prekmurski derbi and the Veliki pomurski derbi.

Nafta 1903 continues to build on the platform of that cup run, aiming to re-establish itself among Slovenia's leading provincial clubs.
