NH Ostrava

Bonver Aréna holds 1,700 for basketball, and the club dates back to 1952.

NH Ostrava won the Czechoslovak Cup twice, in 1979 and 1984, and took silver in the national league three times, in 1984, 1986 and 1987, alongside five bronze finishes stretching back to 1960. Since the split, the club has not reached a national title, though it came within a final of the Czech Cup twice, in 1999 and 2007.

Kamil Novák carries the club's name furthest: a Czech international who played for NH Ostrava before going on to work as a FIBA official, one of the few here whose basketball life extended past the court itself.

None of that history means as much in Ostrava as the fixture against BK Opava. The two clubs sit close enough that the meeting is known simply as the Moravian-Silesian derby, and it is that game, more than any cup run from the 1980s, that still decides how a season in Ostrava is remembered.
