Panthères come from Djougou, in the north of Benin, and the Derby du Septentrion is played against Buffles FC of Parakou.
The club has never won the Championnat National or the Benin Cup. It has finished second twice, in 2012–13 and again in 2014–15. The first of those seasons mattered beyond the table, because the runners-up place took the club into the CAF Confederation Cup, its way into continental football.
Since then the story has moved up and down the divisions. Panthères have gone through several promotions and relegations, and the most recent climb came in 2025–26. They finished as runners-up in Ligue 2, which earned promotion to the Ligue 1 (Elite) for the 2026–27 season.
The club has also supplied players to the national side. Fahadou Touré, one of its more recent products, has won caps for Benin.
Supporters turn out with yellow and black flags, the colours the club plays in. They fill the Stade Omnisports de Djougou, which seats 3,000.
